Induced siphonage of air into the flowing fluid.
Matlák, Jiří ; Opravil, Tomáš (referee) ; Svěrák, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to deepen the knowledge in the field of drain liquid from vessel with free surface due to the effluent jet with defined profile. Formation of complete suction vortex is taken place gradually depending on the starting conditions. In the diploma thesis basic relations in liquids considering whirl are described and the types of vortex are divided on the bases of circulation intensity. In the experimental part of diploma thesis the possibilities of liquid level prediction are searched for, where the whirl is formed depending on the size of effluent jet.
Study of in-take vortices
Burda, Radim ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hudec, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with vortex flow, in particular intake-vortices formations with emphasis on intake-vortices with full air core which appear near vertical intakes. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part contains theoretical research on the intake-vortices and maps development of this field during the last 60 years. The goal of the experimental part is to verify recommended dependence of the formation of intake-vortices with full air core on submerge of intake and volumetric flow rate. The experiment was conducted in the laboratory of the fluid engineering department of Viktor Kaplan.

OPTIMIZATION OF THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS PROJECT IN TERM OF TIME CHANGE OF PARAMETERS
Hudec, Martin ; Haluza, Miloslav (advisor)
The objective of this project was to contribute to deepen the piece of knowledge about swi¬rling movement of the water in the hydraulic power plants’ water intakes, especially in case of the Swirl Turbine. The vortexes mostly occur near outflow holes in the bottom or walls of water tanks. Collectively they are called inflow vortices. According to the form they take they can be divided into four main categories. By the model research on hydraulic power plants’ inflow it is generally concerned on determination enough infallible conditions, under which the pulling-in of the air by a vortex into an inflow does not happen. For this purpose has been in the Fluid engineering laboratory projected and realized an experimental device enabling observation of creation, spread and extinction of the inflow vortices.
